Merry Christmas to everyone. Thanks for making the year so much easier.
Hello everyone!
Happy Christmas.
hope you are all well.
The children are all in Scotland with Dad & having a nice time, all is going well.
Hope you all have a wonderful time.
Pansy x
HI everyone,
Well somehow I'm managing to have the best Christmas day that I can remember - easily the best since I've been on my own, probably better than the ones I was with ex for. He came over briefly this morning but I took Sparklinglime's advice and took advantage of the time to prepare the veg etc, then he left and a very chilled out day began. Its been so nice seeing the excitement of my son - altho he is starting to look exhausted now and has slumped in front of the tv! To everyone out there struggling with their first Xmas as a single parent I promise that it does actually get easier! Still think Santa discriminates against single parents tho - there never seems to be anything for us ;)
Take it easy - Sadsy and Pansy, hope you are managing ok without the kids around today xx
Merry Christmas to you all. Have been thinking of you Sadsy and Pansy. Hope you're both keeping well. Sadsy, have a wonderful wonderful day tomorrow with the kids. Am so glad you filled the time today Bec! Sparkling is great with advice eh? Hope you are good Sparkling.
My son has had a fantastic day, up at b...... 5.10. My eyes are drooping, but more games on the agenda. Family fortunes.
Have a lovely evening everyone, hope to pop back later
Take care

Hey there,
GF has come visited and has been shocked about my weight gain!
Annnnndddd! Coming from her who broke my bannister and pulled half the plaster out of the wall with it!
Christmas has taken it's toll.
Hug sy
Having an interesting visit at BF's Have spent today helping wrap presents for his children & for xmas lunch had cooked breakfast, lol everything is back to front in this house! very crumbly weird walls in this house too!!
Pansy x
Great to hear you are both having a lovely day, what with crumbling plaster etc, could almost be talking about the same house, ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Have a good evening, and a great day tomorrow.
Take care
Alison

Great that everyone has had such a good Christmas day, I am sure there is a joke there, Pansy, about getting plastered
Alisoncam you had a very early start to your day, I hope you had a good sleep last night. I actually went to sleep yesterday afternoon for about 20 minutes, it was a power nap of course ;)
Sadsy enjoy your time with the children!
Glad that your day went so well, Bec. Especially after all the pre-Xmas stress.
Hi all
Hope everyone is feeling refreshed after yesterday!!!! My son was still going at 10 last night, and I could barely keep my eyes open. We did have a wonderful relaxing day though. Full blast again today, we're going to be making slime slugs, creating ben 10 comics, and playing games again. I'm tired just thinking about it!!! He is still sound asleep, so hopefully, I can get a few little jobs done before he bounds into me!
Have a lovely Boxing Day, I'm guessing Sadsy is very excited today. Have loads of fun whatever you're all doing.
Take care
Alison

glad your wee boy had fun. Thats what you wanna see is that he's having fun etc.
It toke me about one hour and forty minutes to open louises pressies yesterday as she got that much. She was a lucky girl but for her first christmas she did well and seemed to enjoy herself.
xx
I think I've slept most of today!
Glad everyone has survived Christmas day.
I think you really needed that sleep, sparkling lime, as you have been short on that commodity lately, haven't you? :) Glad you finally got a chance to relax
Hi All
Good to hear you all had a good christmas, whichever day you really celebrated it on. Glad that yours went so well, Bec, you sounded so upbeat which was lovely!
I have my brother to stay today who has not been to visit for 3 years so never seen this house and I am throwing an improptu birthday party for a good friend so the celebrations are still going on here! I like to string Christmas out as long as possible as there is such a long and big build up for it, I might as well make it last as long as I can!
Cheers Cheers Cheers

That sounds like a really exciting day, Claire-Louise! I hope you are having a brilliant time.
Hi all
alisoncam, I was thrilled to read about your trainers! It is always surprising to think that other people recognise things about our lives and give a damn! What good friends they are, I am sure that you do loads to help them out, so you are very deserving of your present :)
bec, its fab to see you online, great to hear you had a good Christmas day!
sparklinglime, you, sleeping, its a christmas miracle!! I hope that your children had fun and you were sleeping out of peacefulness rather than utter exhaustion.
sadsy, always good to hear your news, I hope you had fun with the children, i thought sparklings observation was very accurate, children will remember the memories, not the presents, as they grow up.
pansy, good to hear that your children were at their fathers and you had some 'me' time. I hope that they all had a good time and they were well looked after??
Big hallo to Louise and Claire-Louise too, seasons greetings to you both. It sounds like most people on the boards have had a good Christmas, which is fab to read.
Much love to all :D
Hi all
Well, there was me moaning on here the other week about my son's half sisters Mum ringing the sperm doner about sending something for the kids for Christmas, and me getting my knickers in a twist about whether or not to give it to my son!!!! The outcome is, my son didn't get anything, and the sister received a card with money to the value of £9.10.
She received it the day before Christmas Eve, but obviously I haven't told my son about it. We did have a chat on Boxing Day, and I asked if he was upset that T.... hadn't sent anything. He said he wasn't, because he's never had anything from him anyway, so it made no difference. Then he wrapped his arms around me, and said, he'd had the best xmas ever. :D
Either the sperm doner is playing little games, and wants a reaction out of the fact that one child received and the other didn't, or he is deliberately making my son wait. The thing is, xmas is over, and It won't mean Jack S.... to my son anyway. He won't get a reaction from me, I was thinking of e.mailing him, but I've been very good, and not bothered at all.
£9????? This person, (can't even call him a man) doesn't have any responsibilites, he works and lives in a hotel, so doesn't have to pay much, and all he can send is that measly amount. He doesn't give either of us child support. He is a worthless bit of scum.
Now, that little rant is over, I shall make a cuppa.
Take care everyone
Alison, (nearly non-smoker)
Well done for being a nearly-non-smoker!
Clearly a Git.
Clearly you're a superb and fantastic (perfect to be precise ;) ) mother, and your son is quite wonderful - all thanks to you.
xxx
Ahhhh Sparkling, you made my day. Of course, as you say, we are perfect, in fact perfectly perfect
I see the sperm doner has now been given your ex's title, the Git
As usual you're right, he is a Git!!!!
Alison
x :)
I think it takes a particular type of person to earn the title of Git - or Gitess of course! :D
 sparkling lime. How about a New Year's "Honours" List?
alisoncam, well done on NOT emailing him, I am sure that ignoring him is a really good option :)
Now there's an idea Louise.... 8-) I reckon that many unreasonable parent would be awarded the Git/Gittess 2009 award.
In my case, The Git has managed to give about 34 hours this year to the children - and I thought last year's less than 65 hours last year was pretty miserable.
Alison - he's not worth the effort of an email. No more than The Git is worth the efford of a text.
I'm hoping that 2010 will, in my case, see a continued disinterest in the children from The Git. They are definitely more settled with reduced contact. (sorry to all those who may be upset by this. I've spent years trying to get him involved with the children)
hi all
Just a quickie, someone has just called me and told me me house line has been cut, so can no longer receive incoming calls. I dont understand as obviously ive still got broadband. I just want to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR. You are all brilliant, and given me so much support.
Take care everyone

hello sadsy
I was hoping that you had had a great time with the children over the festive season. Happy New Year to you too
oh alisoncam I do hope that the broadband will stay on! Don't forget the library option if not.
Let's hope that 2010 will be a good new year for you. I know you were low last night and I totally understand. I think New Year's Eve is much harder than Christmas in terms of a breathing space in life, a sort of "where am I now?" moment. There are no magic answers to this one, it is just about getting through and maybe telling ourselves that actually today is not that different from yesterday. Personally I find it a very emotional time.
So.....PJ day today? We have snow here. AGAIN! I feel :x but I expect your boy would enjoy playing out in it. How is his cold by the way? and have you managed not to catch it?
Hi Louise
I too find it an emotional time. A few days into the New Year, and I'll be fine again.
BT put a total dampers on things for me. I am e.mailing Trading Standards today, (it's awful not knowing when Broadband is about to go).
I think definately a pj day ;) I haven't had very many of those in the hols. My son still has his cold. He hasn't eaten much at all (not even the chocs), but he's very energetic all the same!!!
No more snow here thank goodness. Please keep it your end :) :)
How did your evening go with your friend? Hope the boys enjoyed their night too.
Take care, and keep warm

morning alisoncam :)
luke and I were gaming until 3 am. I promised him he could stay up as late as he liked. Yaaawwwn.
Also had half a bottle of sparkling wine with anti-Ds and feel quite rough :)
sy
Happy New Year! My wish is for a peaceful and healthy one - happy will be a bonus! :D
My son decided at 4.30am that he wasn't coming home, and slept on the floor of where he was (no idea where) - I told him not to get a taxi. Mother-in-Law phoning me from 8.30am, but I was in the shower. Rang her 9.30, and she'd been worried sick about me - why??!!! It's new year's day **sigh** Nice to know someone was worried though! Son came in at 10am and is now zonked on the settee. Need to wake him - at Nana and Grandad's for lunch, and I don't think Nana is going to be very sympathetic!! :D
Had to do four phone calls for work (that's where speaking Welsh comes into play) and now I'm going to see my neighbour.
Eldest is working tonight. Makes me giggle wondering how he'll be come 11pm tonight

While I'm sorry you're feeling rough, sounds like you had a good evening.
Loads of hugs.
if you enjoyed your self last night then dont worry about feeling rough. Am sure your son had a great time last night.
Happy new year to all of you and your families.
wendy xx
Ditto shortie2
Happy New Year to one and all, here's to prosperity, pride and presence of mind!!
Hi Sadsy
I got away lightly compared to you then! My son wanted to see the New Year in, but we were in bed by 12.20. I had wine, but didn't seem to have any affect, (thank goodness).
I hope you're feeling better, though I'm sure very very tired. Have a lovely day whatever you're doing!
All The Very Best for this year
Alison
x :)
sadsy your evening sounds like fun even if very tiring.
Shortie2 hope you are Ok and happy new year to you too :D
Alisoncam, we will be Ok when we get over the "New Year" hurdle ;) Hope you have enjoyed your PJ day, sorry to hear that your son's cold is lingering on,though. I enjoyed meeting my friend last night but the pub was getting very crowded as the night went on so I did not stay late. My eldest stayed out all night at a party (like sparkling's son) but he has done all my ironing this afternoon :D He used to work in a posh clothes shop so he can do it much better than me, . The younger was at a party last night but got home Ok despite a trudge through the snow.
General question: how can the fridge be sooooo bare when only nine days ago there was all that stuff? Living with my boys is like nurturing a plague of locusts sometimes.....
plague of locusts
lol - locusts indeed.
Arwen's bottoms blocked again. I have a bottle of lactolose to help.
sigh.
She went through 15 pairs of undies on Wednesday. I've done nothing but washing and clearing up poop.
lol sy
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL! & thanks for all your support this past year.
Best wishes for 2010 to you all!
The start to the new year was not a healthy one for my family!
Eldest has had tosilitus & has tested positive for glandular fever, she has exams this year!
other daughter is still in Scotland until end of month & has ear infection with glue pouring out of both ears & in terrible pain.
(both on anti-biotics)
My Mum found out on new years eve that she has glucoma & macular degeneration in her eyes! Glucoma can be controlled when caught early, but the other, there is nothing they can do for her type & it can lead to blindness, she is understandably very upset!
Hope nothing else happens!
Love to you all!
Pansy x
Hi Pansy
Oh no, what an awful start for you. I'm so sorry.
Macular degeneration you say can lead to blindness. I sincerely hope that this isn't the case with your Mum. Big hugs for you both.
The antibiotics will kick in soon, so hopefully the children will be ok. Glandular fever is a bugger though. My sister had it years ago, and she was nearly always tired, for about a year. It certainly can knock you sideways. She was a lot older though, so hopefully, in a younger person, it might not have exactly the same effect.
Wishing you all the best for 2010.
Take care

Hello Pansy
I am so sorry to hear of the bad news for your Mum, hopefully they can delay the deterioration with some expert treatment. But no wonder she is upset, what a horrible start to the New year for her. As for the children, the antibiotics will do their work but yes your daughter will need lots of rest after the glandular fever. Let's hope that is the end of the bad news for your family and that you can ove forward and have some good things now
Hello everybody
Just to let you know that it is now my turn for holidays so I will be off the boards for a week (after today). I am not going away but have lots of nice things arranged with different friends and relatives as I worked through most of Christmas (my choice). Hope you all are able to pick up the threads of normality after the crazy Christmas season and start the new term Ok.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES AND I WILL BE BACK SOON

Hi pansy - Best wishes for 2010.

I have a lot of issues with my 10 year old. He's now being referred to a constipation clinic... Not nice, and you have my sympthies. Hope you've had a fun-filled time otherwise.
Hi Louise
Have a wonderful holiday. You deserve the break.
Uhmmm, have you passed those glasses to Claire-Louise or Anna, or both???? :o
Have fun, and thankyou for your help in lifting my spirits.

Hi Pansy
I wanted to say how sorry I am for all you family members who are suffering from one thing or another. I too have been ill over xmas and new year and it is really not what you want at all.
In terms of the glandular fever, I had that when I was doing my A levels and the school I was at was very supportive. I was off school for about 6 months but they sent work home for me to do and they even let me do my mock exams at home under exam conditions which really helped as it meant I did not have to re sit the year or anything and I don't think my end results were at all affected by it in the end. The most annoying thing about it is that even after having recovered, when I get ill now, my glands quite often swell up and are painful. It is worth really resting and making sure your daughter is able to totally recover from it.
Good luck and may 2010 bring you and your family some wellbeing.
Love C-L
Hey there ppl!
hope you are all recovered from winter illness.
Just dropped children back to ex. I though she looked rather weird. She averted her gaze and would not look at me.
I guess she has prepared her court statement this week and i'm expecting and giving no mercy.
She will be making me homeless in court in February and I must not forget it.
Both my cars are crumbling. One has no MOT and tax now. Fortunately screen is frosted up, hehe.
Ah well. It can only get worse - lol.
I am officially fat now. Somehow the children and I developed a craving for pringles crisps and we demolished 2 cans in one evening.
Highlight of the week was Arwens clogged bottom and her calling for nanny to visit her in bathroom, only to be handed a large poop. Ha!
There were many highlights, Fed the ducks today and the children loved it. The geese were well behaved for a change and didn't chase us around the frozen pond.
Yesterday was alvin and the chipmunks for arwen and nanny and Avatar for luke and me.
Now I'm in the silent house. Have put some music on.
hug sy
Ah glad you had a nice time with Arwen and Luke :D :D
Don't worry about Louise looking odd, whenever I look at my ex I think he looks a bit strange, I think somehow that I can't see anymore how I could have loved him and his face just looks unfamiliar without the love, not sure if that makes sense...
Hope that music is on loud
Take care
Hi sadsy
What a brilliant xmas time with the children, I bet they had a super time and I guess that is why the house feels even quieter.
It sounds like there is still lots of sorting out to do though, regarding accomm, the cars, more court visits etc. Please keep looking after yourself, will you still be going to badminton over the next few weeks??
Hello,
yes it's Christmas!
No children, is eerily quiet. I hope to collect them on Boxing Day.
I am thanking all the generous-hearted people on onespace for being there for me since my darkest days in June.
I have been sooo lucky to have met you all online and those special people that I have come across who have helped in what way they could. I wished I could have been there more for you guys too.
Wishing you all a very happy christmas.
